Upon the arrival of the cabinets, the room finally started to look like a kitchen. As expected, the cabinets made the room feel like it shrank significantly. Unfortunately, the installers also damaged the floors (grrrr), so we had to cover them with paper and plywood to prevent additional damage. The countertops take a little getting used to. Tamara designed them to have a "waterfall" effect, which caused great consternation for the stone company. Even after installing them, they were still grappling with the concept. The plumbing is installed so we finally have a sink (the one thing we have truly missed during this process). However, we have to wait for the stainless steel backsplash to be installed on the stove side of the kitchen before much of the electrical work can be completed. We are happy with the progress, but we still have lots of details to resolve. The downside of the cabinets and countertops is that they make our white appliances look like crap. I guess we need to expand the budget again.
