The Great Kitchen Renovation of 2004
WAITING/SLICE OF LIFE

Behold the new back wall, comprised of the frame (in back yard) and windows/doors (in dining room)

Tamara and Sasha inspect the new frame.
Sasha guards it from the wind.

I often contemplate our temporary kitchen when there is no work being done...

Progress is a relative concept.  We've found that renovating a kitchen is 10% construction and 90% waiting.  There are many reasons to wait: subcontractors' schedules, waiting for important things to arrive (i.e. doors, hardware, sinks, appliances, etc.), and many others.  The plumber came this week (woo-hoo!) but we are trying to figure out who our electrician will be (boo!).  The doors and windows for the back area came this week (woo-hoo!) but we are still trying to figure out who will install them (boo!).  Kudos to Dick Fullerton who designed our back wall.  As the pictures show, the pieces-parts have arrived.  Next big step is installing them.

Update: Door/window installation begins on Monday and the electrician comes on Tuesday!  Too bad we haven't gotten around to buying door hardware.  I guess it will have to be nailed shut for a couple of weeks.
